Better Than Brownies?

My friend over at honey & jam, has a gorgeous site of photos and recipes. I tried her Butterscotch Blondies (with a few tweaks). Oh sigh. I can't speak any more.

•Butterscotch Blondies•

Melt in large saucepan:
.5 c. butter

Whisk in:
2 c. packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 t. vanilla

2 t. baking powder
1 t. salt (a little less, would be fine)
1.5 c. unbleached flour
1 c. butterscotch chips (optional, I actually like it w/o the chips)

Spread in 9 x 13 pan and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

*Variation: 2 c. flour, 1 c. butter, 2 t. vanilla, plus .5 t. baking soda, 35 mins. This makes it less dense and slightly less addictive. (Which is good or bad, depending on how you look at it!)
